Listen again to BBC Radio 1’s stunning Ibiza prom at The Royal Albert Hall

BBC Radio 1 started its celebration of 20 years broadcasting from Ibiza last night with a frankly stunning Prom at the Royal Albert Hall.

Classical renditions of Ibiza tracks including Frankie Knuckles “Your Love”, Sabres Of Paradise “Smokebelch II”, Moby “Go”, and Alison Limerick “Where Love Lives”, Faithless “Insomnia”, Stardust “Music Sounds Better” were performed by the Heritage Orchestra (with Jules Buckley as conductor) in the Royal Albert Hall, London.

The sheer genius of the event was how dance tracks were reworked for performance by an orchestra, whilst maintaining the sonic impact they have on the dancefloor.

The prom is available to Listen Again on the BBC website and watch on the Radio 1 BBC iPlayer channel and YouTube:

The prom will be available for download for 30 days from broadcast via the BBC Radio iPlayer app. We suspect it will be repeated and downloaded for many years to come.

BBC Radio 1’s weekend of Ibiza programming starts from Thursday night.
