Pride returns to the capital once more on the weekend of 27 and 28 June.
Here’s our run through of official and unofficial events during the day on Saturday 27 June.
The Pride Parade
The main parade will run through Central London on Saturday 27 June from 1pm along its usual route from Baker Street through Oxford Circus, Piccadilly and Whitehall to Trafalgar Square.
For the benefit of any first time visitors to Pride and/or London, the West End will be extremely busy and crowd control measures (including one way systems) will be in place.
A good vantage point to watch the parade is on Regent Street near Oxford Circus (easily accessible on the Bakerloo and Victoria lines – which serve a number of key London mainline stations – as well as the Central Line).
Once the parade has finished (Westminster Council waste no time at all in removing the barriers as soon as it is over!) we would recommend heading right across Oxford Street and turning right again down Wardour Street to access the bars around Old Compton Street and Soho Square. This has the advantage of avoiding the crowds around Picadilly and the circuitous one-way system towards Trafalgar Square (which can be easily accessed via Soho from Charing Cross Road).
Trafalgar Square Entertainment Stage
The entertainment stage in Trafalgar Square, hosted by former Strictly Come Dancing pro Robin Windsor and Lisa Riley, will run from midnight to 8pm on Saturday 27 June.
The full stage line-up is on the Pride website with headline performances from Blue and Rebecca Ferguson. Entry is free but a donation of £3 is encouraged.
Soho will once again play host to a dedicated family area and women’s and cabaret stages.
