One of the best club nights in London last year was “A Night In Paradise” at Ministry Of Sound to celebrate the music of New York’s Paradise Garage.
So we’re really pleased to hear it will return on Sunday 19 July. Once again, it’s a daytime party starting at 2pm and running through to midnight at the Ministry Of Sound.
On this occasion, the event is a celebration of the late Larry Levan’s birthday.
Events begin at 2pm in the external courtyard, with the line up featuring resident Paradise Garage DJs David DePino and Joey Llanos, and appearances from Francois K and The 2 Bears.
At sundown the party moves inside into The Box. Bar 103 hosts “Larry’s House”, with UK DJs who all have a connection to Larry Levan, or have been influenced by him. Ministry of Sound’s co-founder Justin Berkmann and Ricky Morrison are joined by Heller & Farley. Noel Watson joins the bill, who, along with his brother Maurice brought the sounds of New York and Chicago to London as residents at Delirium in the late 1980s and Jeremy Newall.
The Baby Box will welcome champions of the rising nu disco/magic edits/boogie scene, Midnight Riot.
On a separate note, there is a Kickstarter fund raising campaign to produce a screenplay of the Paradise Garage.
