Early May Day Bank Holiday Weekend in Gay London – Our recommended events, bar & club nights

We’re almost mid-way through our trio of spring/summer bank holiday weekends, so here’s our first cut of recommended events and nights over the weekend.

As always, we’ll update with last minute ticket information as the weekend approaches.

We Party returns to the Coronet Theatre (28 New Kent Road, SE1 6TJ) under the theme “Beyond presents Maximum Security”. This has echos of the “Prison of Love” in We’s first year in London – one of the better parties we’ve attended.

Also, note The Coronet Theatre has a new admission conditions which require all patrons to have a valid form of ID which will be scanned on entry.

In Soho, The Shadow Lounge (Brewer Street, W1F 0RF) launches its new Saturday night “Shadowmasochism” with live performances by Boyleze. Doors are open from 10pm until 3am.

On Sunday, Matinee kick off a summer series of outdoor terrace parties with a pre-party for the annual Barcelona circuit festival at The Ministry of Sound (103 Gaunt Street) from midday to 9pm.

Our perrenial favourite for any Sunday on a bank holiday weekend is of course Horse Meat Disco at The Eagle (Kennington Lane, Vauxhall). Arrival before doors open at 8pm is recommended. HMD’s residents will be celebrating the launch of Grace Jones’ “Disco” Box Set.
