The University of Nottingham’s male Hockey Team get naked to say no to homophobia in sport

Friends of twbap say good words about the city of Nottingham.

We’re told it is one of the UK’s more cosmopolitan regional cities with the added benefit of not having some of the insular attitudes you can find elsewhere.

It has a relatively small, but thriving, gay scene with popular clubs such as NG1 which has just launched a Ministry of Sound branded night.

Rough Trade is also opening a new branch in the city next week (the only one in the UK outside London) so we think it’s time for a visit.

It also has two successful universities that keep the city young.

And it’s the University of Nottingham’s male hockey team that has got naked together to say no to homophobia in sport.

The university’s hockey team is not the first team to have done this of course. The Warwick Rowers have gained worldwide recognition for their annual calendars (and a lot of positive publicity for the UK abroad in the process).

We would not be so naïve to think all university sports teams would be willing to do this. However, there’s no call to donate money here nor any calendars on sale, but just a short video with a simple message.
