It’s World AIDS Day on Monday 1 December 2014. As always, the event is marked across the capital with strong support expected from London’s bars and clubs on the weekend before.
We Were Here – The Clapham Picturehouse – Monday 24 November
The excellent documentary “We Were Here” is being shown again at the Clapham Picturehouse. as part of the “Out At Clapham” series of film screenings.
In what we think could be one of the best events of the year, New York’s Paradise Garage comes to the Ministry Of Sound on Sunday 30 November to raise funds for GMHC New York and and the Terrence Higgin’s Trust.
On Monday, HIV tests will be available at G-A-Y Bar on Old Compton Street from midday to 9pm in conjunction with 56 Dean Street clinic. £10 will be donated to the Elton John AIDS Foundation for every test. At 10pm a memorial balloon release will take place.
Ku Bar’s World AIDS Day Auction also returns this year from 6pm on Monday 1 December at Ku Bar Leicester Square. Last year’s auction raised over £17,000 and all proceeds go to The Food Chain. Details of the 24 lots open for bidding are now online and open for bidding.
The 24 lots include a day at Ascot, tickets to see The Audience in the West End, a stay for two at The Nadler Hotel Soho, and lunch at The Ritz.

Compton’s of Soho (51-53 Old Compton Street) hosts a World Aids Day celebration in aid of GMFA from 8.30pm on Monday 1 December. Tom Knight is your host with music from Matt Bogard. There’s more on Facebook.
Positive East’s 5K Red Run returns to Victoria Park with a 5k & 10k run at midday on Sunday 30 November. Registration is just £10 and is open until race day.
The Eagle is also hosting is World AIDS Day fund-raiser on Saturday. Supported by DJs Adam Turner and Lee Evans and A Man To Pet, The Eagle will be offering prize giveaways and donating all door proceeds and £1 for every new member that joins the bar to Wandsworth Oasis and GMI Partnership. Also on Sunday in Soho Circa (62 Frith Street) is raising funds for the The Food Chain with 20% of drink sales donated to the charity. Adam Turner, Attack Attack Attack, Munroe Bergdorf, Jonathan Bestley, Sam DMS, and Kris Di Angelis are your DJs for the evening.
The unmissable W Hotel London Leicester Square has (RED) cocktails for order through until 15 December 2014.
It’s in house film club also has special screenings of Dallas Buyers Club (Sunday 30 November) and Precious (Sunday 7 November). Tickets cost £20 and will include a box of popcorn and a Glitte(RED) cocktail, with all proceeds going to (RED). Advance booking available online.
