Gay club night “Popstarz” bids farewell to London – The Coronet Theatre, Friday 28 November

One of the first London club nights we ever heard about in the 1990s was Popstarz – just after it had launched in 1995 when Britpop was at its height in the UK.

Now we’d be lying if we said we were regular patrons of the club. However, we couldn’t ignore the fact that, at just shy of 20 years of age, Popstarz, is bidding farewell to London with its last ever party.

Popstarz has had countless homes in its two decades (the full list reads like a history of London venues!) and it’s final party will be at The Coronet Theatre (28 New Kent Road, Elephant & Castle, SE1 6TJ) on Friday 28 November.

Occupying three rooms in the Coronet Theatre, Popstarz promises its biggest party yet, with the main stage transformed into an “Indie 3D theatre” and two rooms dedicated to pop and R’n’B.

There’s more event details and ticket information on Facebook.

On a related note, we should add there is uncertainty over the long term future of The Coronet Theatre (home of course to We Party). 2015 could prove to be its final year.
