South London

The Eagle: Horse Meat Disco

Starting in Vauxhall, Horse Meat Disco will be at their home at The Eagle (349 Kennington Lane, Vauxhall) on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day with a two day event to mark their 10th anniversary. James Hillard and Jim Stanton will be joined by Lina Bradford from New York on New Year’s Eve from 9pm to 4am (advance tickets are still on sale & 100 tickets will be available on the door).

All four Horse Meat Disco residents (James Hillard, Jim Stanton, Luke Howard and Severino) return for a New Year’s Day gymkhana from 6pm to 3am (tickets available on the door – early arrival recommended).

Tickets securing entry for both events are £22 and are on sale now.

The Royal Vauxhall Tavern: Push The Button [SOLD OUT]

Also in Vauxhall, Push The Button will be occupying The Royal Vauxhall Tavern with its “New Year’s Weave”. This event is now sold out and no tickets will be available on the door before 1am.

The Royal Vauxhall Tavern: New Year’s Day Chillout

On New Year’s Day, it’s the traditional chillout from 2pm (tickets available on the door).

Club 65: Calling Planet Earth New Year’s Eve

Staying in Vauxhall, things seems to have been very quiet at Club 65 (65 Albert Embankment) of late so it’s interesting to see a New Year’s Eve party “Planet Earth” hosted by a new production company “Calling Planet Earth”. Room 1 “Planet Earth” plays host to DJs Smokin’ Jo, George Sharp, Jamie de Rooy, Thomas Wonderland, Paulo Moreno, and Adam Turner. Room 2 “Planet Disco” hosts TheMenWhoFell2Earth and an as yet unannounced DJ. Scene legend HRH Minty is your host for the evening. More details are on Facebook

Bar-Code: Club Tin Tin vs Higher

At Bar-Code (69 Albert Embankment) it’s a joint night with the fledgling Club Tin Tin and Higher from 10pm. £10 tickets available in advance from selected outlets and £15 tickets are available on the door.

Pulse: XXL & XXL Fusion

Moving to Southwark, XXL at Pulse (1 Invicta Place) also has a two day event over New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Resident DJs Christian M, Alex Logan and Joe Egg are joined by guest Andy Almighty for a 13 hour event running from 8pm through to 9am on New Year’s Day.

On New Year’s Day itself, it’s another XXL “Fusion” event for men and women, with The Freemasons and Cahill joining as special guests.

East London

East Bloc: Blocheads NYE All-nighter [Advance tickets sold out]

Now turning to East London, the Blocheads host a 12 hour NYE All-nighter from 10pm at East Bloc (217 City Road). DJs include Smokin Jo, Tom Stephan, The lovely Jonjo, Paul Heron, Dave Kendrick, Jeffrey Hinton, Richard Mortimer, Martyn Fitzgerald, Jonbenet Blonde, Jacqui Potato and Daisy Confused. More details are on the dedicated Facebook event page.

East Bloc: Handsome New Year’s Day

Turning to New Year’s Day, Handsome’s NYD Party kicks off at 10pm with three rooms, each dedicated to house, r’n’b and disco. Entry is £5. More details on Facebook.

Dalston Superstore: Little Gay Brother

Over at the Dalston Superstore (117 Kingsland High Street) Little Gay Brother presents New Year’s Eve with a Studio 54 themed event and an edict to “Dress to impress bitches.”

Sink The Pink hosts on all day party from midday New Year’s Day at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club (42-44 Pollard Row). Advance tickets are on sale now with more event details on Facebook.

The West End

The Edge Soho (11 Soho Square) has DJs Zach Burns, Chris Brogan and Keyth David. £9 advance tickets can be bought online. Entry is free for members. Circa (62 Frith Street) is offering free entry with DJs Adam Turner, Sam DMS and Kris Di Angelis. The Shadow Lounge (5-7 Brewer Street) is hosting a “Superbowl” party. Advance tickets are £25 with limited availability on the door. Rupert Street Bar (50 Rupert Street) and The Yard (57 Rupert Street) are also options in the West End.

Heaven: G-A-Y

Tickets for G-A-Y at Heaven, which will have the X Factor winner Sam Bailey and 911 on stage, are on sale now at G-A-Y Bar for £12. Tickets will also be available on the door at Heaven from 9pm. Note that the entrance to Heaven on NYE is via Craven Street by Boots on The Strand. You might need to ask security (possibly more than once..) to let you through from The Strand and if you arrive via Embankment station you might have to walk a circuitous route to get to the Strand.

If you’re staying in…

If you’re staying in or hosting an event at home, as for as radio is concerned we’d recommend A Night To Remember: Ana Matronic On Disco on BBC Radio 2 (!) from 8pm. There’s more electronic music on Nemone’s Electric Ladyland on BBC 6Music from 10pm. JemmOne is also running sets by 120 DJs over 120 hours until New Year’s Day.

A little further afield..

Looking a little further afield, Scream Paris (18 rue du Faubourg du Temple, 75011 Paris) is hosting its own NYE event from midnight to midday with Room 1 dedicated to French DJs Nicolas Nucci, David Judge, Tommy Marcus, Ben Manson, Paris Tropher, Trippy Gonzales, and Sebastien Reyes.

In Brussels, La Demence begins, what will be its 25th year, with its traditional New Year’s Day party from 9pm New Year’s Day through past midday on 2 January. The UK is represented by DJs Pagano and Fabio Luigi. Red & Blue in Antwerp is hosting its own New Year’s Eve party from 11pm with guest DJs Elof De Nerve and Gust Morris.

The now worldwide brand “We Party” continues its seven day New Year Festival in Madrid with parties on New Year’s Eve and a final party on New Year’s Day.
