As we approach Pride weekend, here’s a run through of official and unofficial Pride events during the day on Saturday 29 June.
The Pride Parade will take place at 1pm on Saturday 29 June. The parade starts on Baker Street, then goes along Oxford Street, through Regent Street to Haymarket, then past Trafalgar Square to Whitehall.
Road closures will be in place in Soho and celebrations will start from midday onwards at Soho’s bars such as The Yard, The Edge, Manbar and Circa and many others. A one-way system is likely to be in place on the parade route to Trafalgar Square so, for anyone new to Pride in Central London, a considerable degree of patience will be required to move around. Make no mistake, the roads in and around Soho will be extremely busy.
Fortunately, there is very little by the way of planned Tube closures this weekend.
UK Black Pride will be taking place in Golden Square, Soho on Saturday 29 June from 12pm.
There will be a stage in Trafalgar Square featuring DJs, singers, cabaret perfomers and pre-recorded videos hosted by Andrew Hayden-Smith, Dusty O, Chris Fitchew and Paralympian Claire Harvey. Here is the full line-up.
Summer Rites Pride In The Park is the official music festival of the event and, short of some weather related disaster, looks set to be the highlight of the year. The festival is in Shoreditch Park and runs from 1pm to 10pm. Here’s the latest on the seven different arenas.
