The Monocle cafe opens at 18 Chiltern Street, London, on Monday 1 April

Further to a previous post the opening date for the Monocle cafe has been confirmed for Monday 1 April.

Monocle has also released further information about the cafe. As expected, the internal fit-out is of a high quality, drawing on a range of international suppliers of solid oak furniture (Edo Design and Construction, One/Third, Truck Furniture and others). The list of things you won’t find at Starbucks includes a Toto washlet in the bathroom!

Coffee is supplied by Allpress Espresso. and cakes are supplied by Masayuki Hara.

Complimentary WiFi is provided for subscribers of Monocle and customers of the cafe can browse back issues of the magazine (normally sold for twice the cover price) in the cafe.

Although Monocle’s PR refers to the cafe being ideal for post-work drinks, this is somewhat restricted by the opening hours of the cafe. It closes at 4pm Monday to Saturday, and 3pm on Sunday! Hopefully, the opening hours will be extended in due course.
